Impact & Environmental Recorders Prevent Damage to Fragile Goods

ShockWatch® Impact & Environmental Recorders continually monitor the shock, vibration, and environmental conditions experienced by structures, facilities, and equipment during transit, storage, and operation. Triaxial piezoelectric accelerometer technology records direction, amplitude, and duration of impact force, while onboard sensors record changes in temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure. Designed for both lab and field testing, these recorders help deter, monitor, and minimize damage.

ShockWatch Impact & Environmental Recorders

Monitor critical goods and equipment that need special care and handling in transport, storage, and use. Shock, vibrations, and unacceptable environmental conditions can cause costly damage. Identifying responsibility for these unacceptable conditions is the first step in preventing damage and downtime.

ShockWatch Impact & Environmental Recorders provide ongoing monitoring of the intensity and duration of shock and vibration to large stationary or moving equipment, structures, and products. Triaxial piezoelectric accelerometer technology is used to record impact direction, amplitude, and duration. Optional sensors also record changes in temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure.

shock log
ShockLog: RD298
This device records the date and time of up to 400 events. It has several unique features, making it especially suitable for applications in which the cost of exposure to out-of-specification environmental influences is very high. The instrument is equally convenient for protecting high-value fixed or mobile installations, or characterizing shock and vibration during transportation.

In normal operation, the device checks the output of the sensors continuously, and dynamically records any impact above a preset level. This dynamic reloading mode offers high-resolution data capture (up to 2048/Hz) and wake-up within 1.5/ms of exceeding the threshold.

Optional accessories include an environmental indicator and a remote accelerometer to record shock and vibration in areas away from where the device is mounted.
shocklog mini
Micro ShockLog: RD317
This device records the date and time of up to 128 events, in addition to peak values of impacts at user-specified intervals. Optional accessories include a humidity sensor.
ShockLog RD298
Tilt & Roll Accelerometer
The Tilt & Roll Accelerometer extends the monitoring capability of ShockLog RD298 to include tilt (front-to-back movement) and sway (left-to-right movement). The accelerometer uses an RS232 cable to connect directly into ShockLog RD298 and utilizes its own power supply and the ShockLog’s memory to store tilt and sway data. To ensure maximum resolution, the data is recorded in quadrants and is displayed in a range of +/-90°.
remote indicators
Remote Indicators
Remote Indicators allow users to collectimpact and environmental data from areas that are not easily accessible — and then view the current ShockLog status and any alarm conditions from a more convenient location. Remote Indicators are often selected when it is necessary to embed the ShockLog device into the product or package.
Environmental Sensor
Environmental Sensor
The Environmental Sensor measures temperature, humidity, and pressure. Data are recorded in time slots for easy analysis.

Innovative Software for Reliable Data and Analysis

The ShockLog and Micro ShockLog are offered with a comprehensive Windows-based software program that allows you to program your own wake-up, warning, alarm levels, and frequency of data collection. When a pre-programmed impact level is exceeded, data will be stored for future analysis. With the software, you can also configure the devices directly or via iButtons to extract data and generate reports and charts.
One Page Reports
One Page Reports
A powerful feature of the ShockLog software is the One Page Report. This report provides an overview of the entire journey. Information delivered includes ShockLog setup parameters, summary of alarm conditions, information regarding first and most severe alarm, summary of peak acceleration and time domain representation of the most severe event.
Detail Reports
Detail Reports
Time Slot Reports show data collected with relationship to time. Impacts in the X-, Y-, and Z-axes as well as internal temperature are standard time slot report options. External temperature, pressure, humidity, tilt, and roll are available if accessory options are connected to the ShockLog. By drilling down into Time Slot Reports, Event Data can be reviewed and analyzed in detail.
